For general health and wellness we advise patients to minimise certain foods which could cause inflammation in the body. These foods should be taken minimally in every day diet and meals.
Minimally Recommended Foods:
- Hot Spicy Foods
- Capsicum
- Chilli
- Cinnamon
- Curries and spices
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Leek
- Onions
- Peppers
- Shallots
- Alcohol (spirits, wine, beer)
- Certain Fruits (mango, lychee, grapes, coconut)
- Dairy (cheese, butter, cow’s milk, ice-cream, yoghurt)
- Excessive Sugar (desserts, lollies, chocolate)
- Lamb (excessive heat)
- Oily/Deep Fried Foods
- Pesto, Nutmeg, Mustard, Wasabi
- Pizza
- Pop Corn
- Red Meat, BBQ Meats, Sausages, Meat Pies
- Seeds & Nuts (esp. peanuts, peanut butter)
- Shellfish (prawns, lobster, crab)
- Wheat/Gluten
Note: The above list is NOT recommended for those who have a cough, fever or inflammatory skin problems eg: dermatitis, psoriasis
Recommended Foods:
- Vegetables
- Bitter Melon, Spinach, Corn, Pumpkin
- Cabbage, Carrots, Bak Choy
- Cauliflower, Broccoli
- Dark Green/Green Leafy Vegetables
- Mushrooms, Beans, Bean Sprouts, Lentils
- Pearl Barley (except when Pregnant)
- Potatoes, Sweet Potato (don’t eat when constipated)
- Steamed Foods
- Tofu, Seaweed
- Tomatoes, Cucumbers
Other Foods to Eat:
- Apple, Pears, Strawberry, Peach
- Apricots, Pineapples, Melons, Paw Paw
- Citrus (lemon, grapefruit, orange, lime)
- Asian Porridge
- Boiled Luke Warm Water (6-8 glasses)
- Brown, Wholemeal Bread
- Fish and Tuna
- Honey
- Rice Noodles
- Pork, Chicken (Minimum)
- Brown Rice
- Sesame, Vinegar
- Green Tea or Black Tea
